Agiosat Global Communications announced today that it has completed the design and procurement for a major expansion and upgrade project has at Agiosat’s Atlanta, Georgia facility, the Atlanta International Teleport as well as its’ Sylmar, California facility. This comprehensive expansion will allow for a greater range of customer solutions as well as greater redundancy for service reliability by incorporating into the facilities the most updated technology available for satellite delivery of content and IP based communication. This is part of a multi-million dollar expansion and updating program involving all of Agiosat’s teleports.“Delivery of end to end solutions utilizing IP, MPEG and other technologies as well as utilizing the most appropriate technology, coupled with outstanding quality and service, is the most important end result of this expansion process”, said Adam Grow, Director of Teleport Engineering.Plans for the project include the construction of a new, expanded control center, upgraded transmission equipment, including new HDTV, DVB and other digital broadcasting platforms, and expanded transmission paths for both C-Band and KU-Band satellite transmissions.“The Atlanta International Teleport and the Sylmar International Teleport have a long and outstanding history. It is managed and operated by very experienced and knowledgeable people. We believe that our investment in this expansion and upgrade project will ensure that our entire global network is technically current to support our commitment of providing the best quality and service solutions within the industry”, said Tom Soumas, President and CEO.Completion of the project is expected during second quarter 2008.
